3D Scatter Plot Maker

Plot three numeric columns such as temperature, pressure and strength as points in 3D space. Drag the chart to rotate it and look at the relationship from different angles, and color the points with a group column.

1Data Table

Paste a table copied from Excel into a cell (Ctrl+V). Click a column header (A, B…) before pasting to use the first line as column names. Double-click a header to rename it, right-click to insert/delete rows and columns, and formulas such as =A1*2 work too.

23D Scatter Plot Options

※ Drag the result chart with the mouse to rotate the 3D view.

How to make a 3D scatter plot

  1. Copy the three numeric columns X, Y and Z (and a group column if needed) together with the header.
  2. Click the column header (A) in the data table and paste - the first line becomes the column name. You can also open a CSV or Excel file.
  3. Choose the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis columns and, if needed, a group column.
  4. Press Draw, drag the chart to rotate it, and check the automatic interpretation (correlations between axes).

What is a 3D scatter plot?

A 3D scatter plot places each row of data as a point with three coordinates (X, Y, Z) in 3D space. It reveals patterns where three variables move together, or differences in position between groups, that a two-variable scatter plot cannot show.

Points farther away are drawn fainter to separate front from back (depth shading), and the default view has an elevation of 30° and an azimuth of -60°.

How to read a 3D scatter plot

  • The automatic interpretation computes the correlation coefficients of the X-Y, X-Z and Y-Z pairs and reports pairs with |r| of 0.5 or more.
  • Points that overlap from one angle may be far apart from another - check from several directions.
  • Separate clusters per group mean there are differences between the groups (lines, equipment).

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate the chart?

Hold the left mouse button on the chart and drag. Dragging horizontally changes the azimuth, vertically the elevation; the Home button returns to the original angle.

Can I see the values of a point?

Yes. The magnet cursor snaps to the nearest point and shows its x, y and z values at the top left; click to pin the tip.

Can I set the axis ranges?

Like the Qstat desktop program, 3D charts use automatic ranges only. The title and the X/Y/Z axis titles can be changed in the chart editor.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored.
